Common Exhaust questions
Yes we can. Most exhaust repairs can easily be done onsite. Depending on the type of vehicle and the environment where the car is held, some exhaust repairs are carried out at an approved specialist repairer while overseen by one of our technicians.
- An overly noisy engine that is especially obvious during a cold start or acceleration
- Decreased power and acceleration;
- Decreased fuel efficiency
- A burning smell from the engine bay
- Your exhaust pipe is hanging or loose; or
- You smell fumes inside your car.
The first signs of exhaust problems is usually wear and tear on the muffler, causing exhaust gases and noises. The muffler is the part that sticks outside of the back of the car and omits the cars exhaust fumes. Noises, strong fumes or obvious wear and tear to the muffler indicates a repair or replacement is likely to be required.
Yes we can. Depending on the type of vehicle and the environment where the car is held, most of our exhaust repairs and replacements are taken to a workshop. Repairs and replacements are either done by one of our specialist technicians, or an approved partner.
Generally you should not see any smoke from your exhaust unless you’re starting your car in very cold conditions. Blue grey smoke could indicate burning oil from an oil leak. White grey smoke could indicate a leaking head gasket and black smoke could indicate use of the wrong fuel. All require you to contact your Blue Toro mechanic as soon as possible.
Carbon dioxide builds up in your exhaust, impacting air flow and your cars performance. The exhaust pipes at the back of your car need to be cleaned as soon as there is an obvious build up of black grime. You can ask your mechanic to do this at your next service or do it yourself with degreaser, soap and water and finally a specialist polish from a car parts store.
Your Blue Toro mechanic will always do a visual check of your exhaust at every service. If you hear any strange noises, smell any strange smells, inside or at the back of your car, then report this to your mechanic.
