STEP 1: SET UP A PROFESSIONAL VOICEMAIL
Did you know that most independent automotive repairers do not have a voicemail?
It’s hard to imagine a business not having a way for customers to leave a message. Many customers (new and existing) will not bother doing business with you if they can’t leave a message or they receive an automated voice response from Telstra (or similar). Even if you call back your missed calls – many customers have already moved on and found someone else. After all, how do they know they’re ringing a real business?
Sample script
Here’s a simple script to follow:
You’ve called [your name] from [your business name], a Blue Toro Preferred Partner. I’m with another customer right now. So please leave your name, number and a brief description and I’ll return your call as soon as possible.
Of course, go ahead and change this up. However, the important points here are:
- Your name and business name: This helps the caller know they’ve contacted the right person.
- Blue Toro Preferred Partner: Many callers will think they’re calling Blue Toro. Adding this in helps the caller know they’ve reached the right place.
- You will call them back ASAP: This gives the caller some confidence they will get a callback.
It’s obviously important that you go ahead and return the calls, the sooner the better!
